Trace Element Packs

Each pack is supplied in powdered form. With easy-to-read mixing instruction, you add the powder to RO water, and they are ready to dose into your tank. Unlike other products on the market that you pay for water, you know the is something in the solutions as you mixed them.

Keeping the five major elements (Alkalinity, Calcium, Magnesium, Strontium, Potassium, and Boron) at the correct levels, and with the addition of the 18 trace metals in the PCS Trace Element Pack, all the chemistry needs in your coral reef will be complete.

This balanced formula contains Strontium, Potassium, Iodine, Barium, Iron, Boron, Manganese, Bromide, Copper, Zinc, Nickel, Chromium, Cobalt, Lithium, Vanadium, Molybdenum, Fluorine, and Rubidium.

You will observe the health of all coral improve. With the use of trace metals, the enteral cellular reactions of the corals are made quicker and easier. Coral has more energy to grow. Colour will improve as the coral does not need the extra zooxanthellae. LPS coral extends more and becomes flesher.  SPS will base more and throw branches from the base, making the coral busher. Both LPS and SPS will recover quickly after fragging and damage.

As all the bio load and animals in your system need and use these metals, the overall health of your system will improve.

Dosed every three days for the best colour results. Or dosed weekly for your convenience, these trace elements are very easy to use. You can manually dose or put the three solutions on a dosing pump.

With this a very accommodating formula. You can dose for a lightly stocked system or more for a heavily stocked system. The important factor is that there are efficient amounts of trace metals for new cell growth. For a more accurate dosing schedule, regular ICP testing is recommended. Please note: More trace metals will not give better results.

Recommended dosing:

Lightly stocked systems: 3 mls per 100 liters (26.4 gallons)

Medium stocked systems: 4 mls per 100 liters (26.4 gallons)

Heavily stocked systems: 5 mls per 100 liters (26.4 gallons)

It is recommended that when first starting to dose trace elements, you need to dose the weekly dose each day for the first 7 days. Any corals that are deficient in any metals will quickly absorb what they require thus causing a shortfall of that metal for other corals. This first week of dosing will replenish all the coral and fill the chemical sink of the system.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Trace Elements:

  1. How long will your Trace Elements last?

A: After the initial week of topping up the chemical sink, a 1000 mls of Trace Elements will last a medium stocked 1000 Liter system, around 2.5 months.

  1. What is “the chemical sink” in my system?
  2. If there is any shortage of a trace element in your system, it will quickly be absorbed by the nearest cells, leaving other cells still lacking. By increasing the dose for the first week, you overcome this short fall.

Q: Do I need to keep on using alkalinity, magnesium and calcium solutions when using your trace-elements?
A: Yes, our solutions contain very small amounts of trace-elements and do not take the place of dosing the macro-elements. You will still need to dose these major additives into your tank to create a stable chemical environment.

Q: The Trace Elements contain strontium, boron, and potassium, so do I still need dosing these elements separately into my system?
A:  The Trace Elements only contain trace-amounts of these elements which are used up daily in the laying down of coral skeleton and in cellular processes. You need to make sure these elements are within acceptable parameters in your system by adding, when needed.

  1. Can I overdose your Trace Elements?
  2. Yes, but not if you follow the dosing instruction. Three monthly ICP test are recommended.

  1. What are your recommendations after a water change?
  2. Add the amount of Trace Elements removed by the water change at 5mls/100lts.

  1. Can I dose your Trace Element daily with a dosing pump?
  2. Yes. Or dose every three days for the best colour.

There will be a little precipitation of chemistry in solution 2.

Q: Can I put your trace-element solutions in a Randy’s 2-part mix?
A: If you are using Randy’s 2-part mix or a commercial blend, it is important that the correct trace element solution is added to the correct chemical solution.

At rate of 10mls/Liter: -

Solution 1 is added to the Magnesium solution.

Solution 2 is added to the Calcium solution.

Solution 3 is added to the Alkalinity solution.
