Phosphate Reducer Packs

PCS Phosphate Reducer is a very efficient and effective iron-based liquid phosphate reducer.

This reducer is like a liquid version of Granular Ferric Oxide but much easy and very simple to use.

You require no reactor, no extra plumbing, and no messy rising.

Always know when the media is exhausted and no swings in phosphate levels.

When the Phosphate Reducer is dosed in the return pump chamber of the sump, the phosphate reducer starts to work immediately. The iron/phosphate reaction can be seen in the water column as a smoky blue tint within minutes.

As the water returns to the sump, the iron/phosphate particles are removed by mechanical filtration or bind to the air/water surface and are removed by the skimmer within an hour or two.

Unlike Granular Ferric Oxide you know when the iron/phosphate reaction is exhausted.

When set up to dose daily on a dosing pump, you can reduce the residual phosphate in the substrate by continually keeping the phosphates lower in the water column. Once these residual phosphates are exhausted, you can then balance the daily dose to the daily input of phosphate from food.

You now can keep any level of phosphate you desire.

Please note: Start by dosing smaller amounts to give your system and fish time to get accustomed to the lowering phosphates and increase of Iron2 in the water column.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Phosphate Reducer:

Q How does the Phosphate Reducer work?

  1. It is a liquid version of GFO. The phosphates bind to the iron oxide and get removed by the skimmer or by mechanical filter.

  1. Can I dose the phosphate reducer into my display tank.
  2. It is recommended to dose into the sump, after the skimmer and before the return pump.

  1. Can I dose the Phosphate Reducer with a dosing pump?
  2. One or two larger doses allows the phosphate reducer to spread throughout the water column. Balance the doses with the amount of phosphates being input by food will give you a stable level of phosphates.

  1. How fast can I reduce the phosphates.
  2. Always change the environment slowly to give the aquarium biology time to adjust.

Some Tangs can be sensitive to elevated iron but will adapt with smaller doses over time.

  1. Why can’t I get my phosphate lower?
  2. Phosphates can come in from foods and leaching out of rocks.

Soak 1 gram of food in 1 Liter of RO water and test it for phosphates.

  1. What is the best way to get the phosphates out of the rocks?
  2. Set up the phosphate reducer on a dosing pump and dose 3 times a day, 5 hours apart. Keeping the water column void of phosphates will allow the rocks to leach.
